Less than a year after its first investment in a Quantel system, an eQ equipped with QColor, AHC Post is now set to become one of the leading studios in London with HD equipment in a very short time.
“There seems to be a long pent-up demand for HD postproduction in London and we are one of the few companies that can serve the market – at almost the same price and at the same speed as others offer it in SD. Therefore, the second eQ system will quickly be fully booked,” said Andrew Cummings, Marketing Direcor of AHC Post. The QEdit Pro system is networked with the two eQs and is used for pre-editing as well as the SD tasks that will continue to arise.
AHC Post’s business area has expanded: film restoration and remastering to HD, giving customers a master with a longer life cycle and better quality than is possible in any other format; corporate presentations, where large-screen HD offers decisive advantages; and feature film postproduction in HD resolution, which AHC Post sees as a growing area for low-budget films, whose viewing and format adaptation, effects work, colour correction and mastering can now be offered in a single pass.
Cummings also has his eye on the advertising industry: “Postproduction in HD makes the industry aware of high-quality images regardless of the recording format, whether HD, 16mm or 35mm. There are no night parts for far better-looking results – so why should anyone still choose SD for postproduction today?”
