Avid Completes Purchase of M-Audio

The planned purchase by Avid of M-Audio, based in Irwindale, California, which had already been announced, has now been successfully completed.

M-Audio is a leading manufacturer of digital audio and MIDI solutions for both musicians who edit their work electronically and audio professionals. Effective immediately, M-Audio is a division of the Avid subsidiary Digidesign and will market its product portfolio alongside Digidesign’s powerful digital audio workstations to professional as well as home and hobby users.

M-Audio’s product portfolio, consisting of computer audio peripherals, PCI sound cards, keyboard controllers and control surfaces, microphones, loudspeakers, software and proprietary sound libraries, completes Digidesign’s product family of professional and home audio solutions. As a Digidesign business unit, M-Audio is expected to employ 200 people, operating in the USA from California and Wisconsin and worldwide from Germany, France, England, Canada and Japan. M-Audio founder and CEO Tim Ryan has now moved to Digidesign as M-Audio’s General Manager and reports to Dave Lebolt, General Manager of Digidesign and Vice President of Avid.
