Autodesk used NAB to introduce Discreet Lustre 2.6, the latest version of its digital colour-grading system, and Discreet Incinerator 1.0, which improves Lustre’s real-time performance.
Lustre 2.6 adds features including more conforming and editing options, faster browser performance, and expanded handling of film keycode and video timecode. The entirely new Incinerator system consists of an inline cluster of configurable processing units connected to one or more Lustre workstations, increasing system performance and interactivity during digital colour-grading operations. Autodesk describes the product as a “turbocharger” for Lustre.
Lustre 2.6 is expected to ship from summer 2005. Autodesk plans to offer Incinerator 1.0 “later in the year” as a separate turnkey product.
