The forthcoming driver update for Bluefish444 cards provides substantial performance improvements for Premiere Pro 1.5.1 users. Direct access to Premiere’s effects engine allows effects, transitions and titles to appear in real time on the preview monitor. The Premiere plug-in also enables playback of timelines containing clips and image sequences with different compression formats. Bluefish444 cards can play every format supported by Premiere’s import engine, including TGA, TIFF, AVI, JPEG and PSD.
With the new driver, the card can also capture incoming SDI material using the DV codec. Offline rough editing therefore requires only a fraction of the storage space.
Catalyst was announced at NAB as the new flagship HD card. Succeeding HD Lust, it operates at SD, HD and 2K resolutions, provides VGA monitoring, and handles AES/EBU, S/PDIF, embedded and analogue audio.
Greed was introduced as a new SD card. It supports S-Video, composite, YUV, RGB and SDI video, together with analogue, AES/EBU, S/PDIF and embedded audio, and operates at 12-bit 4:4:4.
Both cards will be available from autumn 2005. Customers buying the previous HD Lust or SD Envy models before then can choose either a free exchange for the new card or purchase it at half price.
