With the completion of the acquisition, Curious Software will be fully integrated into the company and will operate under the Vizrt name in all markets. Through the merger, the company will grow by 13 to 148 employees worldwide. In the 2004/05 financial year (to May 31, 2005), Curious achieved revenue of approximately US$2.8 million and a result close to break-even.

“We are very pleased with the positive results of the due diligence,” said Bjarne Berg, President and CEO of Vizrt. “In the meantime, we have also worked on integrating our products, which can easily be connected. We will soon replace Vizrt map systems with the superior Curious products, which we believe are the best on the market. In addition, we will develop new products in order to capitalise on the strengths of both companies. Through the acquisition of Curious, we gain access to great products as well as an extensive customer base with 500 customers worldwide, 185 of them in the USA alone. Finally, we are opening the door to new markets and new applications, such as traffic maps. We assume that with the help of Curious we will accelerate our growth course even further.”

According to its own statements, Vizrt is the world’s leading provider of software for creating real-time 2D and 3D graphics in the television industry. The company’s software system forms a comprehensive graphics solution, including character generators, content management or newsroom integration, 3D tickers, virtual studios, weather-data integration, virtual sports analysis, scoreboards and virtual effects.
