On June 15, 2005, the 2nd Swan Lake: Moving Image & Music Award (SL:MI&MA) will be presented in the Saxon university town of Mittweida. The best submitted multimedia videos will be presented to the public as part of a major live event from 9 p.m. at the Swan Pond.
The awards ceremonies are intended to provide a touch of Cannes: Productions in the Digital Film and Computer Animation categories will be honoured. The MOST Award will also be presented this year for exceptional social commitment.
In this project by Mittweida University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the University of Kent in Canterbury/England, education plays an important role for the duration of SL:MI&MA. The organisers were able to secure former chief animator at Disney and Warner Bros, David
Byers-Brown, as the most prominent workshop lecturer. He shared responsibility for productions such as “101 Dalmatians”, “Flubber” or “Roger Rabbit”. Among other things, Byers-Brown will lecture on his specialist field, Alias’ Maya and the design of a 3D character.
The workshops take place on June 15 and 16, 2005, in the animation and audio fields. Other internationally renowned personalities from the fields of multimedia, music and illustration will pass their knowledge on to interested participants, the organisers promise.
A fee of 190 or 120 euros (students) is charged for workshop participaton. It includes one overnight stay and catering.
