Boris FX is acquiring the Final Effects Complete (FEC) plug-in package from Optibase, a collection of more than 100 plug-ins for Adobe After Effects as well as Apple Final Cut Pro and other nonlinear editing systems. Final Effects Complete includes plug-ins ranging from blurs to elaborate particle generators for 2D and 3D particle animation, and it also features numerous transitions.
As part of the acquisition, Boris is also acquiring all associated brand names, including Studio Effects, Next Effects and Ice FX. The Optibase solutions will continue to be offered, with Boris providing support and taking over further development of the products. Nothing was disclosed about the amount of the purchase price and the background to the acquisition.
Final Effects Complete is distributed through Boris dealers; the recommended retail price is US$985. Users of Boris Continuum Complete registered by 1.7.2005 can purchase FEC for US$299 until August 30.
