Five mobile phone films about the 51st Short Film Festival were up for online selection; now the audience has decided on the best entry in the Nokia Short Film Competition: The mobile phone short film “Man muss nicht” by Berlin director Till Passow was selected by the majority of visitors to the voting website (www.nokia.de/kurzfilmtage) as the winner
chosen. The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros. A total of five short films of two to three minutes in length could be assessed, which were shot during the 51st International Short Film Festival Oberhausen by directors from Asia and Europe with the Nokia mobile phones N90 and
6680.
Till Passow, who was represented in the German Competition with his 35-mm short film “Mast Qalander”, on his experiences shooting his first mobile phone short film: “When working with the N90, I was especially impressed by the astonishingly high image quality and the flexibility of the camera.” Passow continued on working with photography mobile phones: “The fact of being able to carry a high-quality, handy and unobtrusive image and sound recording device with you at all times opens up new avenues of cinematic artistic work.” Passow wants to use the prize money to realise a new project.
