IBC: LinkHD Digital Wireless Camera System Debuts

Supports all common HDTV formats / Shipping from first quarter 2006

Links and embedded videos are preserved as part of the historical record.Link Research is showing the LinkHD for the first time in hall 11 at stand 611, a digital wireless camera system that supports all common HDTV formats. The full HD resolution of the original signal is retained. There is no conversion to SD. The lightweight unit works with any standard broadcast camera with an HD-SDI output. A colour display and corresponding menu buttons allow the system to be configured quickly. LinkHD uses FPGA-based MPEG-2 encoding and decoding technology, optimised for the lowest possible signal latencies without any impact on image quality. The end-to-end video delay is less than 100 milliseconds. This makes parallel production with wired HD cameras possible.

The LinkHD system uses COFDM-based modulation developed by Link Research. This results in a robust transmission signal by means of diversity reception. Power consumption is 20 watts. The system can therefore operate for a long period without the batteries having to be changed.

The system will ship from the first quarter of 2006.
