Following the approved acquisition of Pinnacle by Avid, Avid President and CEO David Krall used IBC to inform market participants about the further course of the integration of the two companies. Accordingly, the company is now divided into three areas: Avid Video, Pinnacle Systems and Digidesign.

Avid Video encompasses the professional products of Avid and Pinnacle, including the previous Pinnacle solutions Deko and Mediastream. While Pinnacle’s NLE solution Liquid is being retained, the Vortex server will no longer be developed further – something Pinnacle had decided even before the acquisition, it was said during the Avid press conference. However, Vortex customers are to continue receiving support. Solutions for migrating to Avid Unity would also be offered to them. In future, Pinnacle Systems will serve exclusively as the umbrella brand for consumer products. Digidesign remains the area in which all audio solutions are located.

As part of the merger of the two companes, there would indeed be job cuts, Krall explained. However, they would primarily affect the administrative area – the Pinnacle location in Munich would be retained.
