Curious (stand 7.526) is using IBC for the European premiere of the latest version of its broadcast mapping software World Maps. Version 6.0 is primarily designed to offer performance-enhancing features and make it easier to work creatively with satellite imagery, aerial photographs and road maps. The enhancements to the 3D Animator include the automatic generation of 3D terrain models from satellite or aerial images. According to the manufacturer, this makes it easier and faster than ever to create detailed and realistic fly-throughs.
Curious is also introducing the first three products in its “Producer and Presenter” line. They are intended to enable editors, producers and directors to create maps themselves, rather than leaving this task solely to graphic artists. The provider envisages the results—whether static or animated—being broadcast live to air directly from the Curious platform in the highest broadcast quality.
The first program, Curious News Producer, imports templates from World Maps and allows editors to create world, regional or street maps directly from their desktops to illustrate their news reports.
The second, Curious Traffic Producer, is designed to enable the rapid and simple creation of broadcast-ready traffic reports. Here too, templates form the basis from which static or animated presentations can be developed, for example for traffic-jam reports, accident reports or roadwork warnings.
The company describes the third new product, Curious Map Presenter, as an interactive playback system for News Producer and Traffic Producer. A rundown of various maps or live video can be arranged by drag and drop and then broadcast using a range of options.
