ProBrowse can be used to automate the generation of low-res versions (proxies) of high-resolution material. On a Picon interface, the user is shown thumbnails of the image data for a quick overview and selection. Searching for metadata also simplifies the identification of SD and HD clips on all Spectrum Media Servers connected via the network.

The system monitor works at 1 MBit/s and also captures new material that has been brought into the network through Live Recording or via IP transfer. Display takes place via the Omneon ProBrowse Desktop or through standard viewers such as Windows Media Player or QuickTime Player. The ProBrowse proxies are also available for broadcast applications such as Newsroom or Content Management systems.

The Omneon ProBrowse Desktop Software allows metadata to be changed and in and out marks to be set in clips for playback from Spectrum servers. The operator can also select a specific frame as a Picon. An integrated synchronization function ensures that all metadata changes in the low-res material are transferred to the full-res versions. The range of functions also includes monitoring of the audio tracks contained in clips.

Omneon Video Networks is showing the scalable system in Hall 8 at stand 260.
