The hardware is therefore not tied to a particular compression method.
With version 1.5 of the associated software, which is expected to be released by the end of the year, the system will now also be able to process HDV and DVCPRO natively. It will then be possible to combine HD and SD content on the same timeline without losing real-time capability.
The list of real-time-capable effects is also growing: “Mask Blur”, “Mask Mosaic” and “Cornerpinning” are only three of the new effects.
Matrox AXIO is sold only as a complete system. The update to version 1.5 is free for registered users and will probably be available later this year.
At IBC, Matrox is also presenting the new AXIO HP xw9300 workstations at stand 7.128. This is a computer with a dual-core AMD Opteron processor that is intended to dramatically increase the number of video streams that can be calculated in real time compared with the previously available single-processor systems.
