Optibase’s new MovieMaker 200 HD board, shown at stand 2.249, is intended for postproduction studios. It supports SD and HD video and encodes it as MPEG-2 at data rates up to 80 Mbit/s. The MovieMaker board provides a broad range of analogue and digital inputs and can also use a file as the encoding source.
Another new device is the MGW200, which can operate as either an encoder or a decoder. It carries a composite or SDI signal over a network. Network delivery in MPEG-2 or MPEG-1 can use either multicast or unicast streaming.
Optibase also announced two transcoder boards at IBC that convert MPEG-2 received over DVB/ASI to MPEG-4 AVC. Their intended quality at low bit rates makes the cards suitable for IPTV because an existing digital signal does not first have to be decoded with another device. A DVB-T signal or satellite upstream can therefore be fed directly into the transcoder.
