Digital Rapids Unveils CarbonHD 1.0 and Copper 1.2

CarbonHD is designed to read, write and output all supported formats in real time

CarbonHD is an add-on for the StreamZHD system, which has been available for eight months. Combined with CarbonHD, the system can process SD-SDI and HD-SDI and convert any supported format to another on the fly, such as 1080i to 720p. CarbonHD now extends the system’s functionality to that of a digital disk recorder.

CarbonHD software provides frame-accurate cueing and playout and can now manage playlists with in and out points for each clip. Clips can be output over SDI, VGA or both, and print-to-tape output is also available. During playout, clips can be exported on the fly to numerous file formats, including MXF, MPEG, WM9, QuickTime, Real, AVI and Flash.

No price has yet been announced for existing customers to upgrade their StreamZHD systems with CarbonHD.

Digital Rapids has also expanded its Copper 1.2 media-delivery software with several features. Tuneable Datarate automatically adjusts the current video-stream data rate to network load. Users can set the control software to respond more or less aggressively.

A new Publishing function logs delivered video streams, for example in a database. The Command function can trigger user scripts before and after a stream is sent.

Copper 1.2 is available immediately, according to the manufacturer. Prices range from €4,000 for the StreamZ plug-in to €55,000 for a complete CopperHD system. The upgrade is free for Copper 1.0 customers.
