Rheinische Fachhochschule e.V. Cologne (RFH) invites school-leavers with the Abitur, upper-secondary and vocational college students as well as employees in media professions to an information afternoon. It takes place on Saturday, November 26, at 3:30 p.m. in the RFH Media Center (Weyerstraße 41, 50674 Cologne, room W-103).

Together with lecturers, degree program director Prof. Dr. Gertler presents the accredited and state-recognized bachelor’s degree program in media design. He reports on the innovative teaching and learning methods as well as the advantages of internationalization and credit points (ECTS). Media designers learn technical, creative and design skills in combination with content from communication research, psychology, art and cultural history and other scientific fields. They will be able to implement informative or advertising communication projects in multimedia form.

Because of the time required, the degree program is offered full-time. Seminars sometimes also take place in the evenings and on Saturdays. The degree program lasts six semesters and concludes with the bachelor’s thesis. With this complex final project from an area of communication in electronic media, students demonstrate their abilities even before entering the profession. As a Bachelor of Arts in Media Design and through the practical orientation of the degree program in RFH’s own media center for video, audio and print productions, they have an excellent entry into the media industry. Participation in the “Media Design” degree program costs 420 euros per month.

The privately financed Rheinische Fachhochschule is one of the few universities that enrolls students in its degree programs for both the winter and summer semester. According to its own figures, it now has almost 4,500 students, of whom nearly 1,000 are enrolled in its media degree programs. Further information, including on admission requirements, is available from the student advisory service, Peter Nell, tel. 0221/2030-228, and on the RFH website.
