Under the motto – Film Meets Prose – Primero Verlag launched the “Filmakademie Authors' Project” in early 07 together with the Filmakademie Baden - Württemberg. Following the great success of the first short-story collection, “Mein Herz in fremdem Land”, which attracted considerable interest among Ludwigsburg's film anniversary audience, the trade press and the film scene, the second prose collection, “Utopia 07”, appeared in March 2008 with short stories by graduates and students of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.

Awards Presented at up-and-coming 2007
On Sunday morning, the 'German Young Film Award 2007', the 'BDK Student Film Award' (Professional Association for Art Education), the 'Flying Camera' and the 'International Young Film Makers Award' were presented in Hanover. The 9th Hanover International Film Festival comes to an end with the award ceremony.
XXS – Dortmund Short Film Festival
The Dortmund Short Film Festival is organised by students of the Advertising and Media Academy Marquardt (WAM) in cooperation with the Dortmund Agency and CineStar Dortmund. A selection of 10 short films will be screened from all submissions from German-speaking countries. An expert jury will select the three best short films and award them the "Dortmund Short Film Prize" in bronze, silver and gold, which are endowed with 500, 1,000 and 1,500 euros respectively. The Audience Award will also be presented again this year.
Two successes at “kurzundschön” for students
Two awards from the renowned “kurzundschön” film competition went this year to design students at Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences – Nuremberg University of Applied Sciences. They study “Film and Animation” under Prof. Jürgen Schopper and accepted the coveted awards at a gala in Cologne. The Europe-wide “kurzundschön” competition for young talent took place for the 10th time and attracted entrants in various competition categories with cash and material prizes worth 21,000 euros.

From November 15 to 18, 2007, the Lünen Film Festival celebrates its 18th birthday with a total of 53 short and long German productions. 29 of them will be shown in the competitions, 24 in the special programmes. For the first time this year, the Lünen Film Festival is awarding the prize for best film music, endowed with 2,500 euros; two further one-time prizes will be presented in the FUTURE extra and the SPORT extra. The Lünen Film Festival 2007 is thus awarding ten prizes endowed with a total of 25,000 euros and various support services.

WAM Film Night
On November 4, 2006, the Werbe- & Medien-Akademie Marquardt will present the "small film prize" for the 6th time as part of WAM Film Night to the best up-and-coming filmmakers. The prize is intended to help draw the industry's attention to the great creative potential of young filmmakers. WAM Film Night was founded in 2001 by Frank Erhardt – Academy Director of Werbe- & Medien-Akademie Marquardt – and a team of committed students and has successfully established itself since then. In addition to submissions from universities throughout Germany, WAM Film Night recorded international entries for the first time in 2005. Until September 29, up-and-coming filmmakers can apply to participate with scenic-fictional productions with a maximum length of 20 minutes. The producer and director of the film are entitled to submit.

Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF)
The Tokyo Anime Award is presented as part of the trade fair for animated films (TAF). In contrast to the “Commercial Animated Films” category, the second, “Open Category” (divided into the “General” and “Students” subcategories), is open to worldwide entries that were not publised for commercial purposes. The Grand Prix - one of four awards in total - is endowed with prize money equivalent to around 7,300 euros.
