Alienbrain Studio 7.5 is now available. The asset-management system adds a Server Health Monitor, improved 3D integration and support for Microsoft’s .NET Framework. The new release is divided into two editions: Alienbrain Essentials, starting at $495, and Alienbrain Advanced at $1,495.
The Essentials edition is further divided into “Essentials for Programmers” and “Essentials for Artists.” Essentials for Programmers costs $495 and includes configuration management, integration with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, and Araxis Merge Professional. The Artists counterpart costs $695 and, according to the manufacturer, provides a strongly visual interface with rapid previews, thumbnails, and extensive integration with the latest versions of current 2D and 3D applications.
The Advanced edition provides extensive project-management functions, including reporting and communication tools for team leaders and project managers. Cross-platform support accommodates Mac OS and Linux users, while plug-ins connect high-end design and animation applications such as Alias StudioTools.
The Essentials packages are aimed at medium-sized productions, while Advanced targets mixed or complex productions. By dividing the system into multiple product and price variants, Avid is attempting to address the requirements of different production environments.
