This new product makes use of the high performance of the new dual-core CPU computer systems with PCI Express (PCIe) interfaces, which not least provides an advantage in less expensive system procurement.
“By supporting the PCI Express slots provided in the new dual-core platforms, the new PCIe version of the EDIUS NX hardware makes the speed and versatility of the recognized NLE hardware available to both SD and HD editors,” says Hiro Yamada, founder and chairman of Canopus. “Now that EDIUS NX offers native editing and real-time processing of a wide variety of SD and HD formats, editors who have not yet dared to make the move to HD can already use EDIUS NX right now but also later, when they will switch to HD.”
The centerpiece of EDIUS NX is the EDIUS Pro editing solution, which enables real-time, mixed-format editing of uncompressed SD, HD, HDV, DV, MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 format. Thanks to its variable-bit-rate Canopus HQ Codec technology, EDIUS Pro provides outstanding quality without having to compromise on real-time performance. The EDIUS NX PCIe version is supplied with the new EDIUS Pro 3.6 software version, including support for the JVC camara 720p (24/25/30) and the Canon 1080/24 format.
With the combination of the NX hardware and the HD expansion- kit, Canopus offers real-time HD playback from the timeline directly to the external HDTV display in full quality and at full frame rate.
EDIUS NX with PCI Express compatibility will be shipped in Europe from December 2005 at the recommended retail price of 1199,- € including EDIUS Pro software. The expansion kit can also be purchased through specialist retailers for 699,- €.
