The most important competition for Digital Content Creation (DCC) in the German-speaking region starts today: Effective immediately, creatives can register free of charge at http://www.animago.com to take part in the animago AWARD 2006. Their entries from the fields of computer graphics, video effects and compositing, interactive media as well as Games and Mobile are judged by an expert jury. It identifies the state-of-the-art productions and honors them with the coveted animago trophy.

The animago AWARD is being presented for the tenth time this year, as always organized by DIGITAL PRODUCTION. Among professional media creators in the DCC field, the competition has long been regarded as an important reference and platform for presenting oneself and one’s work to a knowledgeable audience. In the previous year, the animago AWARD further expanded its international significance; more than 1,000 creatives from exactly 50 countries took part in the competition with around 1,300 entries.

Since today, competition entries can be submitted in the Home, Education or Professional categories. The extensive spectrum ranges from short films, advertising and TV spots, music videos and DVD productions through to entries from the fields of architecture, industrial design, art and illustration.

On the animago website, interested parties can learn more about the Award, study the conditions of participation and register competition entries in the Still, Animation and Compositing as well as Interactive categories. One focus in 2006 is on the areas of “Games” and “Mobile Entertainment.” The closing date for all competition entries is February 28, 2006.

In the coming year, the animago audience award will be presented for the first time, supported by sponsor HP. Regular competition entries from all areas – nominated in advance by the jury according to artistic-aesthetic criteria – are up for election. Voting starts in mid-April 2006. Both visitors to the animago homepage and visitors to the animago event can cast their vote via SMS voting.

For the ceremonial presentation of the animago AWARD 2006, DIGITAL PRODUCTION is once again cooperating with fmx, the International Conference on Animation, Effects, Real Time and Content. The awards ceremony takes place during fmx/06 on Friday, 05 May 2006, at the Haus der Wirtschaft in Stuttgart. Since its founding in 1994, fmx/06 has been regarded as the central event for digital entertainment in Europe. Within its framework, production companies, animation studios, VFX houses, game developers and postproduction service providers present the latest trends and developments. The overall fmx/06 program runs for four days, from Wednesday to Saturday (03. – 06 May 2006).
