Blackmagic Design introduced DeckLink HD Pro PCIe for Windows and Mac. The dual-link HDTV card captures 12-bit 4:4:4 over SDI and provides 14-bit analogue video monitoring. Blackmagic positioned it as a low-cost card at $1,195 while claiming high broadcast-video quality from its dual-link 4:4:4 path and in-house 14-bit outputs.
Blackmagic CEO Grant Petty said film, VFX and postproduction facilities had requested an affordable dual-link 4:4:4 card that also handled 4:2:2 video and SD. DeckLink HD Pro PCIe was intended to add 4:4:4 capability to multiple workstations on larger projects. Fast switching between HD and SD gave editors flexibility across mixed-format work.
