“East Germans learn better and are the more diligent students”: supported by this statement from a group of Bavarian entrepreneurs, the Bavarian Broadcast Academy (BBA) in Grünwald promises to award ten scholarships for the 16,000-euro training program to become an IP Broadcast System Engineer – specifically to applicants from the new federal states. According to BBA, the new occupational field offers excellent prospects on the job market. Graduates of the academy were capable of taking on all tasks required to operate an IPTV broadcaster.
The scholarships are to be financed by companies from the IPTV market. “To be secure for the future, we need motivated students,” explains Martin Jakovljevic, managing director of ArtVoice Internet-TV GmbH and spokesman for the IPTV group of entrepreneurs: “The training, which costs 16,000 euros, will be financed by us so that we can have a weighty say in selecting the students.”
The BBA can admit only 40 students in total per year. The scholarships apply to studies beginning on the first of April this year. Each student is provided with monthly travel money of 100 euros from the scholarship. Housing in Munich or the southern surrounding area should be available, since this is a full-time course of study with a high practical component. Applicants should have an intermediate school-leaving certificate or Abitur, with certificate grades “at least in the middle range” desired. Furthermore, applicants should have a minimum age of 18, a driving license, good spelling skills and willingness to work.
