Siggraph has announced the winners of its 2006 Computer Animation Festival. The “Best of Show” award accordingly goes to the American Alex Weil for his production “One Rat Short”. The jury’s special prize goes to Germany: For the short film “458nm” – the romantic story of two mechanical snails – Siggraph is honouring Jan Bitzer, Illija Brunck and Tom Weber, three students from Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
In total, Siggraph recorded 726 competition entries, of which the jury selected 97 for screening in the Electronic Theatre and the Animation Theatres. In addition to “458nm”, the following other German productions are in the programme:

- “Aal im Schädel” (Martin Rahmlow, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg)
- “CAPs” (Moritz Mayerhofer, Jan Locher, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg)
- “Delivery” (Till Nowak, Framebox, Mainz)
- “GEZ – The Black Sheep” (Peter Spans, Spans & Partner, Hamburg)
- “kuhfo” (Hannes Appell, Holger Wenzl)
- “Real Bird’s Don’t Barf” (Bernhard Haux)
- “The MagicBox” (Alexander Beim)
- “Treibgut” (Rüdiger Kaltenhäuser)
Siggraph 2006 takes place from 7/30 to 8/3/2006 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, Massachusets, USA.
