At this year’s NAB, The Pixel Farm is presenting new versions of its PFClean film restoration software. The British company is now shipping version 1.5, although the beta of version 2 can already be seen at the trade show, whose release Pixelfarm plans for the beginning of June.
At the SGI booth, Pixelfarm is showing PFClean 2.0 under Linux with many improvements and new effects: the user can now save effect stacks as presets and apply them to multiple clips. A new clip manager displays all clips with the applied effects of a project. In version 2, the external MCS3 controller from JLCooper is also free of charge included.
The Pixel Farm has improved the existing effects. The analysis for dirt removal can now be extended across multiple frames in order to reliably remove even dirt that persists across multiple frames. The Rig Removal and Regrain/Degrain functions are now also available as independent tools.
New effects include a scaling tool that is intended, for example, to enable upscaling SD material to HD without noticeable loss of quality. The “Temporal Median Filter” can be used to improove occasional fluctuations in color and brightness. Finally, version 2 also includes a de-/re-interlacing filter for processing video material.
PFCLean 1.5 is available now and costs 18,999 euros; unlimited render licenses cost 6,999 euros. For 2200 euros, The Pixel Farm offers a one-year support contract including updates.
PFTrack 3.5 is also new, which at NAB for the first time to be seen. Here, The Pixel Farm has significantly improved the tracker algorithm, which now works up to four times faster than in version 3. In addition, the tracker now copes more easily with highly complex shots. For individual sections, the user can also specify a camera movement to enable an even better calculation.
According to the manufacturer, PFTrack is available directly after NAB 2006 and costs 3,000 British pounds.
