The Berlin School of Journalism (BJS) is offering two seminars aimed at video journalists in September: “The Reporter with the Camera – Introduction to Video Journalism” and “Video Editing and Production with Avid Xpress.”
In the introductory seminar (September 7 – 9, 2006, each day at 9 a.m., 390 euros, reduced to 290 euros for DJV members), the profession of video journalist and its potential are first outlined, followed by an introduction to the construction of images, scenes and reports. Four groups of three participants then go on an evening shoot in Berlin. Their finished pieces are subsequently discussed with the instructor.
Producing complete TV pieces in digital format yourself with Avix Xpress – that is what the second seminar is about (September 2, 2006, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; 150 euros, 120 euros for DJV members). It teaches how the reporter reviews and edits the raw material at home, adds sound to the fine cut and sends the finished piece to customers via the web. All the basic knowledge required for this is taught in the seminar.
