With the new specialist training programs “Game Producing” and “Interactive Audio,”

the Berlin Games Academy intends to train more qualified newcomers for the games industry from the fall.

The game producer is a key position in the games industry. The producer is responsible for production and for ensuring that it is completed on time, within budget and at the planned level of quality. To do this, the producer must combine a wide range of knowledge and skills: Game design (reliable assessment of product qualities), business administration (budget control), project planning (milestone and resource planning), as well as the direction and motivation of teams.

Due to the high proportion of business and legal content, the producer is also ideally equipped for self-employment, the Games Academy states.

The “Interactive Audio” degree program is intended to train a new generation of sound designers and musicians, respectively. It comprehensively teaches the field of classical audio engineering in the traditional areas of music production, sound reinforcement, radio, film and television. In addition, however, a special emphasis lies on the sound and audio production of games.

In the production of computer games, the Interactive Audio Engineer is called upon in many respects. Together with the game design department, the game concept and gameplay are analyzed and a comprehensive audio concept is developed. With the programming department, a sensible integration into the data structure of the game project must be found and the necessary interfaces and methods of sound, speech and music playback must be defined.

The two four-semester programs start for the first time in Berlin in October of this year. Applications are being accepted immediately.
