The “MPEG Pro HD 2.0” plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro has been available since today. Manufacturer Mainconcept promises frame-accurate editing of native MPEG files, including Smart Rendering. It is therefore said to be possible to process MPEG files directly in Premiere Pro (from version 1.5) without transcoding or conversion to other formats, with what the manufacturer says are high processing speed and quality up to 720p and 1080i.
“MPEG Pro HD 2.0” also supports the import and export of video files encoded according to the H.264 standard in Premiere Pro. The plug-in also recognizes MXF files from Sony’s XDCAM HD and can control other HD camcorders.
MPEG Pro HD 2.0 is available from Mainconcept for 399 euros. The company offers the cut-down MPEG Elements version for Premiere Elements 2.0 for 59 euros. There is also a free demo and upgrade offers.
