Cube 3D 2 Stereo Projector

Manufacturer Digital Image presented the second generation of its high-resolution single-chip DLP projectors at the Eurographics trade show in Vienna

The Cube 3D 2 3D projector is a single-lens, single-chip DLP projector. The device displays two images through one optical system at a refresh rate of 120Hz. With a 300-watt UHP lamp, the device delivers 2700 ANSI lumens and generates the colours with a three-segment colour wheel. The projector does not use filters for channel separation.

The Cube 3D 2 is equipped with two independent signal-processing units, one each for the right and left eye. The stereo images are supplied separately for the right and left eye. The Cube 3D 2 has the most common interfaces for importing the two images: DVI, VGA, S-Video and C-Video. Through an optical system, it displays both images alternately without the images having to be specially prepared. The projector uses only one lamp so that the images look uniform. The resolution is 1400 x 1050 pixels. A special screen is not necessary.

The Cube 3D 2 is also equipped with infrared emitters and can control infrared glasses directly. It can display monoscopic images at 60Hz with 2700 ANSI lumens. This also makes a seamless switch between 2D and 3D operation possible. A cluster of Cube 3D 2 units can be combined to build DAVE, Powerwalls or other immersive applications. Finally, the Cube 3D 2 can also be combined with Stereographics Z-Screen products in order to use passive glasses.
