Israeli broadcast specialist Optibase is expanding its product range with the Creator multi-format ingest server, which at the same time marks the company’s entry into the storage-products market.
The Creator server is based on existing encoding technologies from Optibase and processes compression standards such as MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 (H.264) for SD and HD formats.
As Optibase markting director Yossi Aloni emphasised at the presentation, Creator can be used in production to store video-on-demand files, in NLE postproduction or in playout. Within the respective workflow, it is intended to provide its services both as a standalone server and in media-asset-management configurations, as it can work together with various software solutions and MAM systems. The video data can come live, from tape or from files.
According to Optibase, the server provides output data at up to 150 MBit/s in 4:2:2 format and Dolby Digital, or at up to 20 MBit/s in HD/SD in the H.264 or WM9 compression standard. For postproduction, Creator supplies high-res and low-res data in parallel, which can also be edited simultaneously.
