The German conference for game developers “Quo Vadis” will take place in Berlin for the first time in 2007. This was announced by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Aruba Studios, Essen, as organizer and initiator of the conference. Since its foundation in 2003, Quo Vadis has developed into a platform for continuing education and networking for German computer-game developers.

“The games industry is one of the most important industries of the future, and Quo Vadis’s move to Berlin is an important step in digital location development”, explains Petra Müller, Managing Director of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Since 2004, Medienboard has been advocating the convergence of digital entertainment media as part of its games strategy. With the launch of the pilot program for funding digital content, Medienboard had most recently sent signals of active commitment by the location to the future industry of games.

“Quo Vadis wants to be an interface between the games industry and the media industry as well as a forum for discussion with politicians“, Stephan Reichart, Managing Director of Aruba Studios, explains the change of location: “Here we have exactly the framework conditions that are necessary to establish Quo Vadis even more firmly in the German developer and media landscape.”

The conference primarily offers workshops and roundtables with international keynote speakers. The concept consists of offering a conference program by German developers for German developers with plenty of opportunity for networking. From the organizer’s point of view, Quo Vadis has established itself as the platform for continuing education and communication for German computer-game developers. In contrast to the GC Developer Conference, which is held annually in Leipzig as part of the Games Convention and sees itself as the leading European conference for game developers, Quo Vadis deliberately focuses on topics that are important above all for German companies.
