Filmwerk.ch in Zurich is currently working on the cinema project “The Master of the Seventh Seal”. With a budget of 100 million Swiss francs, it is to become the largest
European film project to date. The Swiss production company has already secured one third of the extensive budget. Filmwerk.ch is still looking for further investors for development and the missing two thirds.
At its own expense, Filmwerk.ch carried out an elaborate camera test
at the end of last year. This included professional high-speed cameras from various suppliers, which were compared with the 35 mm ARRI Cine film camera. The Weinberger Visario G2, Redlake HG-XR, Kinor DC4k and Vision Research Phantom were tested. Comparison criteria were handling, resolution, dynamic adjustment range, colour matching, gamma characteristics, RAW data conversion and image distortion. The evaluation is currently still under way.
The use of these cameras will be indispensable for “The Master of the Seventh Seal”. Scenes such as the momentous ingress of water into the silver mine in Schwaz/Tyrol (1574) or the legendary battle of the Spanish Armada against the English in the English Channel (1588) are to be captured with the help of the high-speed cameras and achieve brilliant results for the eye.
In terms of content, “The Master of the Seventh Seal” is the story of the Austrian cannon founder Adam Dreyling, who supplies the English with his cannons, making them far superior to the Spanish. The Swiss producers Reinhard Steiner and Robin Greene are currently in negotiations for the cast and key crew.
