The new Creative Suite 3 (CS3) dominated the Adobe booth, although the software manufacturer had already announced it in a big way on March 27 (DP reported).
For the film and video field, Adobe offers the “Production Premium” suite. It contains the CS3 versions of After Effects Professional, Premiere Pro, Photoshop Extended, Flash Professional, Illustrator, Soundbooth and Encore. Production Premium also contains the Bridge CS3 tool, the new Device Central CS3 mobile device emulator, Acrobat Connect for web conferences and Dynamic Link. In addition, there is also the Master Collection, which contains all Adobe CS3 products.
Since the video solutions will be the last of the new products to appear (probably in July 2007), Adobe announced in Las Vegas that until the release of the new versions of Premiere Pro, After Effects and Soundbooth, these programs will be available free of charge as public betas.
Adobe attracted great attention with the announcement of its Adobe Media Player: Compared with its predecessor, the Flash Player, it offers considerably more technical possibilities and is intended to pave the way for Adobe to profit from lucrative business models with media content on the web.
The technical basis for this is provided by Adobe’s Apollo platform. The Adobe Media Player is to appear as a public beta during the year and achieve final status at the end of 2007. However, the new technology has strong competition: Microsoft presented a very similar technology with Silverlight at NAB, and Apple and Real are also active in this market.
In the broadcast field, Adobe announced a collaboration with Avid: In future, Unity servers are also to support Adobe formats.
