This year, Munich film and camera specialist Arri is celebrating its 90th company anniversary. At its NAB booth, alongside a great deal of classic camera equipment, the company this time showed the new Arrilaser HD/DI. With this machine, Arri is responding to the growing demand for film recording for low-budget productions created by the digital intermediate process.
In 2K, the device works at a speed of 3.2 seconds per frame. Hardware modifications allowed Arri to reduce manufacturing costs, resulting in an entry price of 190,000 euros for the Arrilaser HD/DI. The device is upgradeable, so that options such as the Arricube Color Management System for Linear Workflow or the Camera Negative module can be used with it.
Another trade-show innovation is the Maxmover FP option (Fully Programmable). It makes it possible to move Arri’s Maxmover spotlights automatically from a greater distance as well. Control is by cable or wirelessly via DMX.
In the accessories area, Arri offers a new quick-release plate. It allows greater flexibility when switching from tripod to handheld camera. Thanks to its special design, the plate can be used directly for almost all common video cameras.
