The camera called SI-2K, developed in collaboration with Silicon Imaging, contains a chip in 2/3-inch format and delivers full resolution according to the DCI specification. The dynamic range of the chip encompasses 11 stops. The modular device uses the CineForm RAW codec and thus writes the chip’s RAW data losslessly compressed to the target medium. The recording speed can be set both to time-lapse recordings with a few frames per minute and increased to as many as 150 full frames per second. Thanks to compression, it is possible to record the full 2K resolution at 24 fps onto a normal notebook hard disk.

An HD touchscreen monitor through which the camera is operated is located on the camera body. With its help, the recorded material can also be played back and output via an HDMI interface. Iridas software is integrated into the SI-2K, making it possible to apply LUT in the camera already or perform color correction.

A hard disk slot is attached to the rear, with 4 USB ports below it. The hard disk in the slot is an ordinary SATA drive that can be exchanged by the customer for any other drive. Up to 4 hours of uncompressed 2K material can fit on a 160 GByte hard disk. Mobile hard disks can be connected to the USB ports, allowing the recording time to be increased accordingly. The data is stored as AVI or Quicktime. These files can be processed further immediately, for example in Speedgrade, or in any other application that supports the codec.

The camera goes into series production after NAB and is expected to cost around 25,000 euros.
