The winners of the German Multimedia Award (DMMA) have been decided: In front of around 500 guests on Friday, the twelfth German Multimedia Award (DMMA) was presented as part of DMMK – Digital Economy. In addition to the ten categories in which Internet and multimedia service providers and their clients could apply for the DMMA, the Customer of the Year was also honored and an audience award was presented for the best German celebrity website. In 2007, the expert jury nominated 37 entries out of a total of 368 competition entries (plus four percent) for the award. In addition, there was a top ten list for the audience award, in whose vote around 25,000 Internet users had taken part within one week.
“The digital economy has been experiencing a real boom for months,” said BVDW President Arndt Groth in his opening speech at DMMK – Digital Economy. “Despite the few gray veils that can currently be seen in the almost cloudless sky, the question of solid business models is currently moving more strongly into focus again.” Despite all the affinity for technology and creativity, the discussion about refinancing and efficiency also shaped the jury’s assessments. The list of winners reflects this back in part.
Most submissions were recorded – as in previous years– in the Advertising/PR category. In almost all other categories, however, there were in some cases significantly more entries than in the previous year. “The quality of the award-winning entries is extraordinary,” sums up Klaus Haasis (Managing Director of MFG Innovation Agency) from the perspective of the organizer DMMK – Digital Economy. “Thanks to streaming technologies, high interactivity and virtuality, multimedia applications have reached a new stage of evolution.”
