A further 450,000 households are being upgraded from time-sharing to 24-hour carriage. From a geographical perspective, the reach growth relates to the Mannheim/Heidelberg region, the greater Böblingen/Reutlingen area as well as the southwest of Baden-Württemberg with Singen, Freiburg and Villingen.
Until now, 1.5 million households in Baden-Württemberg could receive DMAX via Kabel BW: of these, 1.17 million households saw DMAX in time-sharing with other channels and almost 397,000 households could receive DMAX 24 hours a day. The background to the reassignment was the discontinuation of broadcasting operations by the nature-documentary channel Terranova on July 10, which could be received via cable and satellite. This resulted in changes to the analogue programme allocation on cable in Baden-Württemberg. Since the start of broadcasting, DMAX, which features more than 50 percent German in-house productions in prime time, has significantly expanded its cable reach. On all KDG networks, the channel is distributed in analogue either on a time-sharing basis or 24 hours a day. In addition, DMAX is part of Kabel Deutschland’s digital free-TV bouquet. The channel is also fed into the networks of Unitymedia and Kabel BW.
