ColdFusion 8 can be integrated into complex enterprise architectures and enables compelling user experiences. Since May 2007, more than 14,000 users have actively tested the Public Beta of ColdFusion 8 Public Beta and provided positive feedback on the new features.

With the ColdFusion 8 Server Monitor, bottlenecks can be identified quickly and servers configured more precisely for better performance. “The server-monitoring capabilities in ColdFusion 8 are outstanding and offer granular access levels to identify slow requests and terminate uncontrolled processes”, says Nick Walters, Programming Manager at Lightyear Network Solutions. “We now receive detailed information about which requests take the longest and which objects within a page show inadequate performance. Server Monitoring with ColdFusion 8 is a big step ahead of other applications on the market.”

Create powerful Internet applications faster and more easily

With ColdFusion 8, developers can seamlessly integrate their applications with other Adobe technologies such as Adobe Flex, PDF, Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) and Adobe LiveCycle. ColdFusion 8 also uses Ajax-based components and puts developers in a position to develop and deploy powerful applications by making complex environments accessible through intuitive user interfaces. “For us as a company in the entertainment industry, it is essential that we offer powerful, dynamic applications. The ease with which Flex applications can be integrated with ColdFusion 8 means for us that we can convince our users with compelling online services that combine rich media and relevant information”, explains Nolan Dubeau, Creative Director for interactive services and web marketing at XM Canada. “I think we will rewrite certain parts of our website to integrate Adobe Flex and Ajax with ColdFusion 8 applications. Adobe has understood very well how to provide a comprehensive environment for the development and deployment of powerful applications.”

ColdFusion 8 contains expanded support for a wide range of platforms and systems such as .NET, Microsoft Windows Vista, JBoss and the current versions of enterprise databases. ColdFusion thus has increased flexibility, interoperability and scalability for enterprise applications. “ColdFusion 8’s new Exchange and -NET integration offers excellent functionalities. ColdFusion enables communication between even more different system types, which was previously very difficult”, explains Nicholas Kwiatkowski, Communication Systems Analyst at Michigan State University. “With ColdFusion 8, we can develop applications incredibly quickly and deploy them to customers with minimal delay and programming effort. The time savings with ColdFusion 8 are outstanding.”

Prices and availability

Adobe ColdFusion 8 can be purchased now from specialist retailers and in the Adobe Store at http://www.adobe.com/de/store. The software is available in two versions: ColdFusion 8 Enterprise is a powerful solution for bringing multiple websites and applications onto one or more servers or an existing installation of a J2EE Server. ColdFusion 8 Standard is an easy-to-handle configuration for individual applications that is ideal for small to medium-sized companies. The Enterprise Edition costs approx. EUR 6,449 (plus VAT) per 2 CPUs, the Standard Edition approx. EUR 1,200 (plus VAT) per 2 CPUs. With the freely available Developer Edition, a fully configured server for use purely for development purposes, ColdFusion can also be used for free development.
