Apple announced today that more than three billion songs have been purchased and downloaded in the iTunes Store. iTunes is the world’s most popular online store for music, TV and films, with an offering of more than five million songs, 550 TV series and 500 feature films. iTunes recently overtook Amazon and Target and is thus the third-largest music retailer in the USA.
“We would like to thank all our customers who have contributed to this incredible milestone,” says Eddie Cue, Vice President iTunes at Apple.
Thanks to its ease of use, its innovative features, such as Cover Flow, integrated support for podcasts, iMix playlists, perfect interaction with the iPod and iPhone or the possibility of completing individually purchased songs into full albums at reduced prices, the iTunes Store is the most convenient way for Mac and PC users to discover, purchase and download ‘their’ music and videos online legally.
