Behind Gamersprofile is the Munich company GamerClub GmbH, which was already listed as the highest new entrant in fourth place in the June 2007 startup barometer on “deutsche-startups.de”. “Gamersprofile is intended to grow into one of Germany’s strongest gamer and social- communities and become one of the largest online wikis for consumer electronics”, says developer and Managing Director Steve Pscheid. “Through users’ author contributions, our own input, and content from the manufacturer and publisher side, in the long term we want to develop into the online encyclopedia for players and people interested in games.”
Gamersprofile is a modern and flexibly programmed Web 2.0 application. Unlike existing gamer communities, however, gamersprofile.de is not limited to certain genres, special games or individual consoles, but represents a free platform for every gamer type, all clans and game genres. “Gamersprofile combines the advantages of a social community, a voting community, a wiki community and an information portal in one platform”, explains Steve Pscheid, himself an enthusiastic video-game player for 25 years. “The user can show who he is, what he can do, what he knows and at the same time obtain useful information and tips.”
Gamersprofile sees itself as an integrating meta-directory for the entire field of electronic games, not as competition to other gamer communities or special game communities. The fully functional beta version has been online at http://www.gamersprofile.de since mid-July; starting August 1, things then officially get going. Gamersprofile will also make itself noticed at Games Convention in Leipzig from August 23 to 26.
