According to the report, several 100 million dollars have already flowed into development of the project, and a mobile phone browser is also planned. US mobile communications companies such as AT&T, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless are said to have already been shown the first prototypes of the Google Phone. Several models have allegedly already been presented, but they did not reah the innovation of the iPhone, instead appearing like the BlackBerry or Nokia slider phones. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Google Phone will support WLAN, UMTS and GPS and have a video-capable camera. LG Electronics and HTC are named as possible manufacturers. Perhaps Google is even planning to act as a mobile communications company itself. At the moment, however, the search engine provider would have to approach the existing companies in order to be able to place its product with consumers.
