Thus, after the USA, most members of the community accessible at http://www.students.autodesk.de now come from Germany. RWTH Aachen stands out in particular: With just under 1,200 members, it provides the largest student participant group in Europe. But the response from fellow students at other universities is also positive. With currently 9,000 users, the German community is growing the fastest worldwide. The internationally organised portal enjoys general global popularity and now has over 107,000 registered students who download software from Autodesk free of charge, take part in professional discussions and benefit from the job offers. Recently, the Student Community was therefore also given an award in the USA as an outstanding online community.
Autodesk Student Community: Added Value at No Cost
In the Student Community, Autodesk offers learners and teachers in the fields of architecture, building and civil engineering as well as mechanics and mechanical engineering free access to professional software that helps them realise their ideas. Downloads of Autodesk Inventor Professional, Autodesk Revit Building, Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map 3D, Autodesk VIZ and Autodesk Raster Design are available to them. In addition, students have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the software easily and quickly with the help of tutorials and to obtain tips and tricks for individual functions in forums. But students are also offered quite a lot beyond the Autodesk solutions: In professional discussions, for example, they can exchange views about the content of their studies and look out for their desired future employer among the job offers.
Herbert Bickelmann, Education Manager at Autodesk, emphasises: “The Student Community is a very important part of Autodesk’s increased commitment to supporting education at universities and continuing-education institutes. Especially in education, great things are often announced whose implementation then frequently fails due to financing. But we take this area very seriously and, with free access to the latest, leading software technology, teaching materials and international contacts, want to give students a good basis for entering a successful professional career.”
