The highlight among the new iPods is the “iPod touch”, which is based on the technologies of the iPhone: It offers a 3.5-inch display and is controlled by touchscreen. When it is turned horizontally, the image adjusts automatically. It also contains a WLAN module through which the owner can nowgo online. Alongside browsing websites, it is now also possible to shop directly in the iTunes Store. A special browser allows convenient viewing of youtube videos.

The iPod touch is available in two versions: With 8 GB of flash memory for 299 US dollars and with 16 GB for 399 US dollars. (The German prices are not yet known at the moment.)

Apple upgraded the iPod Classic with larger hard drives (80 GB and 160 GB) as well as improved battery life. There is also a chic new user interface, album selection via Coverflow and several new games. Prices are 249 and 349 US dollars respectively.

The iPod nano has received a complete Redisgn; it is now adorned with a small 2-inch color display on which videos can also be viewed. It also has the new user interface of the iPod Classic, in which the covers are also displayed.

Prices are 149 euros for 4 GB and 199 euros for 8 GB.

Apple is massively lowering the price of the 8 GB iPhone in the USA to 399 US dollars; the smaller iPhone is being dropped. Jobs, however, did not say a word about its introduction in the rest of the world.
