From September 07 to 11, 2007, DVS is presenting the current versions of its systems and products at stand 7.421. Using the thematic focuses 4K, Broadcast, Digital Cinema and Partnerships, the DVS products are presented with their new features. With the Clipster DI workstation and the new HydraDDR OEM board equipped with an encoding function, the Digital Cinema area shows two trailblazers for the cinema of the future.
Clipster has long been a standard tool for all essential workflows in the production of digital cinema films. Through conforming and finishing in formats up to 4K resolution, Clipster optimizes production workflows in digital cinema. With a new hardware expansion, the DVS DI workstation handles the components of complete DCI mastering through to real-time compression of JPEG2000 formats in accordance with the standard specified by the DCI (Digital Cinema Initiative). Essential data formats such as the Digital Cinema Distribution Master (DCDM) and Digital Cinema Package (DCP) can be created with Clipster without problems. As a “one-stop DI solution”, Clipster optimizes all postproduction steps for digital cinema.
JPEG2000 compression and decompression are available to DVS OEM customers in the form of the HydraDDR PCI-X card. This enables uncompressed input and output of video and audio as well as JPEG2000 decompression up to 2K resolution in real time. With just one card, DVS thus realizes stereoscopic display applications in digital cinema. The encoding function allows image data up to 2K to be compressed. HydraDDR already meets the standards of the cinema of the future today: With SD, HD, 2K and other formats required by the DCI, the board is ideally equipped to be integrated into players for cinema projection and cinema postproduction. 16 AES/EBU or embedded audio channels are further self-evident features of the DVS board.
Jürgen Heger, Senior Product Manager at DVS: “With the Clipster and HydraDDR products, DVS meets all requirments for digital cinema. All relevant formats can be processed in real time, thus enabling fast and efficient workflows for our customers. At IBC, DVS shows how the digital cinema of the future becomes reality with Clipster and HydraDDR.”
