No, no, it is not that simple. After all, there is the festive gala event on November 8 in Kalrsruhe!
The jury did not make it easy for itself. First, in the run-up, the concept of the most important prize in the DCC industry was changed. From now on there are only eleven categories and only a single winner in each, no second and third places.
“We are presenting the animago AWARD 2007 entirely in the style of an Oscar ceremony,” explains Matthias J. Lange, editor-in-chief of DIGITAL PRODUCTION. The course of the ceremony is very simple: “We name five entries per category that made the shortlist and then crown the winning entry.”
What sounds so simple, however, turned into sweat-inducing work at the jury meeting. In the run-up to the jury meeting, which took place in Hamburg in August, Günter Hagedorn reviewed the submitted material. “The gap in the quality of the material is widening. Whereas in the past many productions were of good to average quality, today we have absolute top works on the one hand, and on the other there are interesting works by beginners. There are significantly fewer submissions in the middle field.” This means: The industry has become more professional. As a result, the redesign of the animago AWARDS came at exactly the right time. “Our prize has now become even higher quality,” says editor-in-chief Lange.
The jury consisted of eight members who traveled from various parts of Germany. They are:

Michael Vitzum (nhb, Hamburg)
Frank Zahn (exozet, Berlin)
Björn Kowalski (Effekt-Etage, Berlin)
Timm Osterhold (fiftyeight, Frankfurt)
Sebastian Rätsch (LIGA_01, Hamburg)
Hans-Jürgen Kuntze (DP, Munich)
Günter Hagedorn (DP, Hamburg)
Matthias J. Lange (DP, Munich)
It was remarkable at the jury meeting that the entries from Europe are gaining more and more quality. “France has strong young talent, and Eastern Europe is also very much on the rise. But the animago AWARD 2007 has also shown: Our German artists do not have to hide and can easily keep up internationally,” editor-in-chief Matthias J. Lange continued.
