With the development of a 4K 60p player, DVS is taking another step forward in the capabilities of digital cinema. Instead of the previously common 24p or 30p, the new DVS Cine4K player can handle up to 60 progressive frames per second. 4K at 60p can be displayed at a resolution of 3820 × 2160 pixels, equivalent to four times HD.
Going beyond the industry norm, DVS can meet the requirement to display 4K material at 60p in full resolution. Cine4K is a suitable playback system for high-end 4K projectors. Its data-intensive output is also suitable for large-scale projection and digital cinema. The new DVS player is multi-device capable, meaning that several systems can be linked together to fill particularly large screens or to produce 3D projection in 4K.
A 60p frame sequence is particularly suited to rendering smooth motion in film with optimal realism, including so-called motion rides. Here, viewers can perceive spatial motion sequences as well as the perspective image. Another new feature is that the DVS player can be used to produce a stereo effect, delivering two images at 30p per eye in the highest possible 4K resolution.
