Autodesk acquired California-based PlassoTech, a developer of analysis and simulation software for mechanical design.
The company planned to integrate PlassoTech technology into the Autodesk Inventor family and extend its existing finite-element-analysis tools.
The software analysed complete assemblies and individual parts under structural and thermal conditions. Supported calculations included linear static stress, steady-state heat, thermal stress, modal and frequency analysis, optimisation and buckling.
More advanced functions covered impact loading, thermal variation and large-deformation analysis of solid and shell models with different contact conditions.
Autodesk positioned the acquisition as an extension of its digital-prototyping workflow, allowing design teams to simulate, optimise and validate models inside a more integrated environment.
