As the rumor mill had already suspected in advance, T-Mobile will be the exclusive provider of the Apple iPhone in Germany.
At a prss conference in Deutsche Telekom’s chic Berlin representation, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that the mobile phone would be available in this country from November 9.
The price for the device is expected to be 399 euros and is necessarily tied to a two-year contract with T-Mobile. However, T-Mobil will only announce the costs for the contract in a few weeks. After purchase, the iPhone is activated via iTunes.
„We are convinced that we can inspire our customers to experience the mobile Internet with the iPhone”, says Hamid Akhavan, Chairman of the Management Board of T-Mobile International. „I am proud that Apple and T-Mobile are now working together as partners. The currently best mobile device will soon transmit on the best German network.”
„We are thrilled that we are bringing the iPhone to the German market with T-Mobile as a partner”, says Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple. „The response to the iPhone in the USA is incredible, and we can hardly wait to introduce the world’s most innovative mobile device to T-Mobile customers as well.”
