Microsoft added an Internet TV beta to Media Center in the US editions of Windows Vista Premium and Ultimate.
MSN Video supplied the streams through the YuMe advertising platform. Users could begin playback while a video continued downloading. A German launch date had not been set.
Vista Media Center also moved films, photographs, video and music between PCs, televisions and other connected devices.
German Media Center services already included ZDFmediathek, Premiere pay-per-view sport and films, n-tv news, Yavido music, BMW TV, One4Movie, MTV Overdrive and Bahn TV.
Microsoft Mediaroom provided a separate IPTV platform with HD services, simultaneous recording, timeshifting, video on demand, rapid channel changes and an electronic programme guide.
More than 19 telecommunications companies had selected Mediaroom. Deutsche Telekom’s Entertain service used it for 145 free and paid channels and more than 2,000 on-demand films.
