With the new NEC NP4001 projector model, NEC Display Solutions is offering a projector in 15:9 wide format for the first time. Because of its wide format, its optimized resolution of 1,280 x 768 (WXGA) and its brightness of 4,500 ANSI lumens, the NEC NP4001 is tailor-made for large and bright conference rooms. In addition, it is equally suitable for e-cinema applications. Continuous applications in the digital signage sector are also no problem for the DLP projector – thanks to its flexibly usable 1- or 2-lamp operation, it achieves a lamp life of up to 5,000 hours, depending on the mode.
The new flagship of the NEC NP projector series shines through its special adaptability. Even in demanding projection environments, such as those found in fixed installations in public areas, large conference rooms or reception halls, the NEC projector cuts a good figure thanks to its brightness of 4,500 ANSI lumens and its contrast ratio of 2,100:1. A special highlight of the NEC NP4001: Projections in 15:9 wide format. Compared with its predecessor, the new projector comes with an improved resolution of 1,280 x 768 (WXGA). This makes the NEC NP4001 particularly interesting for use in e-cinema applications. For example, the NEC NP4001 can be used for advertising shown in widescreen format before the main film.
The new NEC projector demonstrates flexibility through its five optional interchangeable lenses with bayonet mount, which can be used for different projection distances. This enables a throw ratio of 0.8 – 8.3:1. The motorized lens shift permits an alignment of the image on the screen of up to 10% horizontally and 50% vertically. The zoom setting and focusing can also be motorized, while any image distortions can be effortlessly compensated up to an angle of +/- 40 degrees thanks to vertical keystone correction.
With its included 6-segment color wheel (2 x RGB), the NEC NP4001 also offers a special adjustment of color reproduction. This color wheel can be used specifically for color-critical applications and thus ensures natural and brilliant colors with high contrast at the same time.
The NEC NP4001 has a multitude of interfaces for professional applications and for multimedia use, including component inputs (BNC) and a DVI-I connection with HDCP for encrypted HD content. The RS232C interface also enables the professional NEC projector to be integrated into and controlled in existing media systems.
Availability and Warranty
The NEC NP4001 is available in stores from October 2007 at a price of 5,299.- euros incl. VAT. The scope of delivery includes a power and VGA cable, an IR remote control and a manual CD. NEC Display Solutions Europe grants a three-year warranty with a free Europe-wide on-site service, which NEC Display Solutions generally assures will be handled by the next working day.
