Allplan BIM 2008 Adds Structured Workflows

Allplan BIM 2008 combines 2D drafting, 3D building models, cost planning, concurrent teamwork, PDF exchange and certified IFC 2×3.

Nemetschek released Allplan BIM 2008 with workflows spanning 2D drafting, 3D planning and object-based building modelling in one system.

A new building structure organised projects by levels and storeys. Plans, sections, elevations and schedules could be derived from the central model, while a level manager prepared large projects and multi-building sites for 3D work.

Design2Cost integrated Allplan BIM Architecture, Allplan BCM and Allplan IBD. Geometric and qualitative changes updated quantities, specifications and cost calculations in the building model. Predefined components covered solid construction, industrial buildings and building-services cost planning.

Multiple planners could work concurrently in a project space without reserving or checking out building sections. Access rights controlled editing, and office styles such as hatch patterns could be stored per project or across the organisation.

Allplan integrated Adobe PDF libraries for exporting and reimporting layered 2D drawings and movable 3D models. A certified IFC 2×3 interface exchanged model data with architects, structural engineers, building-services planners and facility managers.

The release added palette-based controls, improved performance and a parametric designer for custom 3D components. German and English editions were scheduled for October 2007, followed by a multilingual edition supporting up to 16 languages in January 2008.
